Only 25 km from Freiburg and in view of the black forest and the Vosges mountains we find this pearl in the Upper Rhine Valley. Breisach is a small town located at the Rhine river, which forms the border between Germany and France. It boasts of more than 1650 years of history. Despite being destroyed several times during its history, Breisach has retained much of his historic old town. During your Breisach Tour your professional and English-speaking guides will explore with you not only the cathedral hill, but also parts of the modern town.
These days Breisach is a quaint little town. This is in stark contrast to most of its long history. Located on the „Münsterberg“, a rock on the banks of the Rhine river, Breisach has changed hands many times over. The Upper Rhine Valley has been home to Celts, Romans, Alemanni and French to name a few.
All of them have left their mark on this little town. During your Breisach Tour you will learn about this history and visit the most important sights. From the Münsterberg you will not only enjoy the view over the Vosges mountains, the Alsace, the Kaiserstuhl and the black forest, but also the commentary of your guide. The highlight of the Breisach tour is St. Stephan’s Minster, the catholic parish church of Breisach. Scarred by the many wars, it is the home of wall paintings by Martin Schongauer; the rood screen, beautifully sculpted to separate the clergy from the parishioners is spectacular, so is the altar carved in the 16th century.

Professional guides will explore this pearl in the Upper Rhine Valley with you. Via stone steps and cobblestoned lanes you climb to the Münsterberg, the hill on which the town was founded. Here you will spend most of the tour before descending to the modern market square where your guided Breisach Tour ends. Look forward to:
