C-punkt Münster Forum
Description

Since its completion in the 14th century, the cathedral tower has stood proudly over the bustling alleys of the Old Town. Freiburg Cathedral is known far beyond the city’s borders as a city landmark and is, of course, a central feature of every guided tour of Freiburg. But it’s well worth taking the time to explore Freiburg Cathedral in depth with a guided tour. Art-history-trained tour guides from the Freiburg Cathedral Forum c-punkt will provide you with unexpected and fascinating insights into this extraordinary building. Freiburg Cathedral is sure to delight every visitor!

Freiburg Cathedral—a Gothic masterpiece

It has now been over 800 years since Duke Berthold V of Zähringen decided to build a stately parish church in Freiburg to serve as his final resting place. Over the centuries, thousands of people have built, filled with treasures, and preserved the Freiburg Cathedral. The guided tour of Freiburg Cathedral focuses in depth on the building’s history, both inside and out. You’ll explore the rich and symbolic sculptures in the narthex as well as the magnificent collection of medieval stained-glass windows.

Please note: Audio devices will be used during this tour. These audio devices are included in the price and are provided by c-punkt Münsterforum. Admission to the choir gallery is NOT included in the price and may need to be paid separately on site in cash.

The group size is limited to 15 people. The Münsterforum Terms and Conditions apply.

Freiburg Cathedral Tour – Important Information

Although the Freiburg Cathedral is the city’s landmark, it is first and foremost an active place of worship and, since 1827, the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Freiburg. The Freiburg Cathedral admits groups of visitors on a much more generous basis than is customary in most German cities. However, the cathedral may be closed on short notice for liturgical or cultural reasons, making guided tours impossible. We maintain close contact with the city deanery, which keeps us informed. Nevertheless, in very rare exceptional cases, it may be necessary to postpone a cathedral tour at short notice.

Guided tours of the Freiburg Cathedral can be booked during the following time slots:
Monday–Friday 10:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. and 2:00–5:00 p.m.
Saturday 10:00–11:00 a.m. and 2:00–4:00 p.m.
(last tour starts at 3:00 p.m.)

Herzlichen Dank.
